Alternative fuel

Energy is the basis of today’s civilization, its production is still based on oil, natural gas and coal, whose global resources are rapidly shrinking, in addition, they are non-renewable. It became clear that it was necessary to find new sources of energy.
One of the solutions to this problem was to create an alternative fuel – environmentally safe, cheap to produce and high-energy, capable of replacing traditional raw materials. This has been accomplished. Among the materials used to produce it are… clothing. Worn and damaged clothes, for which there is no other use, are recycled and turned into a high-quality energy source.

Eco-friendly fuel

Alternative fuel production uses what was previously produced that has become useless to people. What not long ago was considered waste, for which no use was found, and which ended up in landfills, has become an energy resource of no less value than coal or other minerals. After processing the most dilapidated clothes, it is worth emphasizing – only mechanically, without the use of chemical additives, a high-calorie fuel is produced, with parameters defined by EU and national laws, which are restrictive in this regard. This is what a closed-loop economy looks like in practice.

Top quality

The alternative fuel produced at the Skarżysko-Kamienna plant is of the highest quality, which is appreciated by our customers. This is confirmed by the EU quality certificate, which means that it meets the criteria for sustainable development and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Every year we turn thousands of tons of raw material, still often treated as waste, into a source of valuable energy, which has a not inconsiderable impact on improving the environment in Poland. We supply it to cement plants and other production facilities adapted to use RDF fuel in their own processes.

Why bet on alternative fuels?

  • It is cheap and high-energy
  • It does not contribute to the drain on dwindling and ever more expensive traditional energy sources.
  • Is made from 100% recycled materials
  • It is manufactured from textiles that cannot be used in any other way and would end up in a landfill.

Opportunities and challenges

Alternative fuel seems to be the ideal solution, but like everything, it has its drawbacks. It can not be stored for a long time, because due to its electrostatic properties it tends to self-ignite. Manufacturers must therefore deliver it to customers on an ongoing basis. This type of fuel cannot be used in households. In order to make their combustion fully safe for the environment, complex furnace and filter systems are needed. Today they are very expensive, and only large industrial plants can afford to buy them. Most often they are used by power plants and cement plants, although this will probably change in the near future, already some cities are investing in systems that allow the use of alternative fuels. Why? Because they are many times cheaper than traditional ones.
